Fall into Wonder!

A Fair Tuesday: Elle Polk Nights

Yesterday was a night to remember. From the endless sound of honking horns mixed with pleasantries from an undiscovered saxophone artist whose notes were soothing enough to rock me to sleep – this is fall for me. Fall is recognizing that the seasons have changed and I will desperately have to follow suit. In my evening quest for a free book giveaway, I realized how freeing it can be to simply explore. Exploration keeps the mind viable and reduces the noisome pestilence of “I can’t.” I can’t do this because I’m tired. I can’t do this because I’m afraid. Whatever may follow after I can’t, I challenge you to say that you can do all things through Christ Jesus!

Who knew something as simple as taking the train to Manhattan would be so reviving. Asking someone to take my picture and trusting that they wouldn’t run off with my phone. Walking the NYC streets alone while believing my prayer for protection was heard by Heavenly Father and that I was safe in His care. All of this has reminded me the beauty of living and living in Christ. We don’t have to allow the case of the “I cants” to dictate how we show up in the chaos of this present world. Over the years, I’ve faced various disappointments and more grief than I would’ve like to experience. Completely unaware of the lingering effect it had on me and how it changed how I navigated through life. My joy lessened and the child-like wonder was slowly being squeezed out with every twist and turn that life brought but no more!

Life is to be lived and the fear of living has hindered way too many of the simple joys this life can bring. So, live again! Live in the present that God has blessed you with for not only personal enjoyment but for His glory. Live in the faith that anchors your soul and fuels your spirit man to war and contend when life tries to keep you down. Live despite the stumbles and mistakes that come with being fearfully and wonderfully made imperfections. Live past the trauma that tried to write your story and know that God has a greater Word over your life and purpose. Take this time to reflect with God and really allow Him to search your heart about how you approach your life from day to day. Do you approach with fear or are you fueled by faith? Do you recognize when you’re fearful? It’s ok to admit that you don’t always start your day off fully armed in your faith. Don’t let pride keep you uncovered! God is giving you space to recognize it and put your armor back on – so don’t fall into the pit of guilt and shame. When was the last time you decided to choose spontaneity? What did it teach you? What does it look like to be child-like in your Faith during this season?

My hope is that you’re able to really sit with The Lord and allow Him to answer. That your faith is strengthened and the twinkle in your eye to see life past what tried to hurt or hinder you be restored in Jesus Name, amen. Go live!
