Prayer is one of the most underrated life skills that I would dare say even amongst Christians.  In this technology driven world, we have found ways to hear other people pray and stunningly mistake that for our time with the Father.  Sure, we will listen to worship songs until our phone battery gets low or Youtube displays an ad, but fail to allow that worship us into our own time of communication with the Father.  We see questionable things celebrity gospel artists or celebrities who proclaim to be Christians do and do not haste to pray for them more than we discuss their behavior. So quick to wag our finger at the darkness of the world, but how quick are we to pray for it?  Did we forget there were many praying for us? It wasn’t just one person, but several and apart of the very reason why you’re able to have a relationship with Jesus today.

What makes prayer a life skill?  Well, it’s Who we pray to that matters. Some trust in horses and others chariots, but we will remember the Lord our God!  Because we pray to The Almighty God, we can trust that our prayers are not falling on deaf ears.  When we pray His Word in faith we know that it will not come back void.  This is why there is so much war against prayer individually and as a family because prayer truly does change things! It not only changes things, but environments, and our perspective.  It is our lifeline because we aren’t just calling on God when we are in trouble but because our fellowship with Him fuels our lives.  Our lives are more fulfilled when we spend time with God in prayer because we are refreshed in His Presence! We get to do life in Peace after leaving the throne of Grace and rest in knowing our Good Father watches over us as we sleep.

Let this be an invitation for you to spend more time with God in prayer. Most people spend their weekends catching up or resetting for the next week. My hope is that you reset with God.
