Are you a leader or a follower?
So, today’s writing prompt asks, am I a leader or a follower? Short answer to that question is I am both. I earnestly believe that a god leader should know how to follow. There should be an extensive history of learning how to submissively follow someone else so that when there is an opportunity to lead, one will lead with not only confidence but humility. Confidence from what they were able to glean from their past leaders and how to apply it to their current leadership and humility to remember that they are not bigger than the program. What is the program one may ask? The program belongs to God.
In case you didn’t know, God is the sovereign One, the only wise and true God. Since this is true, there is an understanding that any leadership position that we obtain should be filtered through God’s guidance on how to sustain it. Oftentimes when promoted, our egos start to swell and we treat those who follow us as less than. Totally missing the fact that without followers there is no leader. Also, without God we can do nothing. Sure we can lead but can we lead well? Can we lead with integrity and not impulsively?
Look at the current chain of events we all are experiencing. Does it look like our current administration learned how to follow before he became a leader? Ultimately, God is in control. However, that is not a license to lead lackadaisical just because He is in control. There is still a responsibility that leaders have to lead with conviction without compromise which is hard to do if you have never followed another’s example. If that is you, I can point you to the perfect example – Jesus!
Please recite this in faith that Jesus will answer. Lord Jesus thank You for dying on The Cross in my place. I believe that You are the Son of the living God, that You got up with all power from the grave and that You are coming back for those who belong to You. I repent of my sin, confess that you are, Lord and Savior, and turn my heart towards You to deliver me from eternal suffering in Jesus name, amen!
