John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭ The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows.

Oftentimes, we think of abundant living as an extravagant lifestyle filled with endless luxury and carefree adventures. The internet doesn’t make it any better as we constantly digest everyone’s highlight reels every time we open an app or watch a streaming episode of the perfect family with their perfect home. As believers in Christ, we have to hold fast to the word of God lest we fall prey to cares of this world.that entraps all who follow suit with temporal pleasures that keep us void from true abundance.

The enemy is likened to a thief because he tries to steal our attention away from God, kill every God given purpose that fuels the life of the Christian, and destroy every effort to walk in that purpose in our day to day lives. We must stay on guard because worldly abundance is just emptiness with decorated diamonds. The glare of “having it all” without Jesus is a never ending hole of dissatisfaction. A dissatisfaction that leads to ultimate destruction. What we find as believers is that abundance isn’t about how much property we own or money stashed in offshore accounts. Those things serve their purpose but cannot replace our purpose. The only way to achieve a life in true overflow is to live submitted to God. This means our faith in Christ is our foundation and His Word is our leading Compass!

With this as our daily guide, we get experience an overflow of peace within a chaotic work environment. When times of sorrow abruptly knocks at our door, we are comforted by a bountiful Joy that comes from the Lord. Every battle is fought in overwhelming victory and tear dried by everlasting Hands. Remember that living a fulfilled life is not about how much we can fill our pockets but how much God’s Spirit fills us from day to day. My encouragement for us all is to live intentionally, purposefully, and obediently to the One Who makes this life worth living; a life of true abundance as we live submitted to Christ. Be blessed!
