Phil. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
As we are ending the year, it is imperative that we reflect on the untiring goodness of God. Oftentimes, we get so fixated on all that went wrong with our year that we forfeit the opportunity to celebrate all that God has done despite the difficulties or hardships that we endured throughout the year. We have to be careful not to end the year with a faulty perspective because how we end directly reflects how we start for the new year.
Not only are we celebrating all that God has done but also all that God is in His Goodness and Splendor. There’s a verse that speaks of how the voice of the Lord breaks cedars. This verse encourages us to remember that His Voice alone can break, mold, heal, and destroy. With His Voice, He can destroy yokes of bondage, heal the trauma that invades your mind, and mold you into His likeness as you endure hard trials. So, don’t count this year as a complete loss but as a victory!
With this in mind, I want to offer a better vantage point as it relates to all you have experienced this year. I don’t have to know details to stand on the fact that God’s Goodness has sustained you no matter what you have faced. You have endured things you never thought you would be able to face. God has kept you in times where you wanted to walk away. He has comforted you in moments of grief and despair. His Love has reminded you that this is not the end for you. So as the focal verses states, there is much for us to think and meditate on before we close out this year. There is more good to be grateful for and to look forward to and for that we give God our praise and gratitude for another year walking with our great and powerful, Lord!
