Psalm 81:7a “You called in [the time of] trouble and I rescued you; I answered you…”

I don’t know much about football but I am aware that as the quarterback runs the play, he is supported by the defensive linemen. This imagery of being shielded by an army of men as a fellow teammate is trying to land a touchdown reminds me of our heavenly army as believers. With God being our coach within the Divine Trinity as Holy Spirit and Jesus accompanying Him, the heavenly army as our defensive linemen and referees against the despicable army of darkness we are fully shielded in our fight to finish the “play of life.”

God doesn’t stop there! Even with the prayers of the righteous moving God’s angels to war on our behalf, He shields us with His mighty Hand and can hide us in the shadow of His divine wings from our adversary! This is good news because we don’t play on a team that lacks covering. Unlike the footballers I mentioned as a reference, we are perfectly and consistently covered by God and His mighty army! He has never lost a battle and is victory belongs to His children, forever!

I know the economy may present another story and perhaps your life’s circumstances may tell you that victory is far from reach. However, we serve a God that answers the cry of His children and keeps His Word! His Word that says we are the lenders and not the borrowers and that He will gladly rescue us in our time of need. So, don’t be dismayed! The Lord is fighting for you and with you – He will rescue you in your time of trouble! I hope you cling to these truths and understand there is no enemy or circumstance greater or mightier than our Heavenly Father. Be blessed!
