Welcome to gratitude week! I’m so excited to finally announce that I will be taking intentional time to express my gratitude towards God for seven days this week. So in this blog post, I’ll be discussing when do I feel the safest and my gratitude towards God shifting my definition of safety throughout the years.
Truth be told, I feel the safest in my comfort zone. I like to be out of the way and behind the scenes. Being in the forefront is not something that I aspire to do. For me, as long as the job gets done that’s all that matters. However, God has been interrupting my carnal desires of being “background bae” and showing me that it’s not about me being in the spotlight! It’s all for me to display the light of Jesus in a more expansive way.
So because of this, I now have to relearn what my safest place is in terms of feeling comfortable and at ease. Now, we know that being a Christian does not allot for much comfortability, especially living in this dark world. What I mean by comfort is peace. There’s a liberating deposit from God’s Word that keeps me when life’s circumstances yells that I should be feeling otherwise. I no longer have to fall victim to a crumbling environment or challenging circumstance.
This peace looks like Jesus. This peace is what helped me to fight against the tactics and schemes of my enemy. This peace helps me to pray for those who despitefully use me and talk about me. This peace is my newfound safe place because my comfort zone was keeping me captive. I now have the freedom to fully and completely be exactly who God has called me to be without fear of man hindering my decisions. This peace is what I’m grateful for – the safest place that I can be.
Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me what true safety look like and feels like. As I continue on this journey with You, I pray I never lose sight that You will always cover me and carry me through every mountain and valley this life may bring in Jesus Name, Amen!
