Refined in God

The fall season is upon us. From pumpkin spice drink orders, cinnamon scents, and the autumn decor being plastered on almost every other building you enter is a clear indication that the season has definitely changed. Even if the weather is still a bit wonky, we have committed our minds to the idea that fall is here! God gives us indicators that our season is changing as well. By Him being the Master Potter, we can trust the shifts and grooves of life because we know there’s much purpose behind the kneading art of our pain and discomfort.

We jovially and sometimes resentfully speak about how this journey feels like we are in a sailboat being tossed and thrown as we maneuver through life’s hardships. What we don’t understand is that clay has to be thrown (kneaded) in order to be processed effectively. What we can trust as believers is that we have a Faithful Heavenly Father Who isn’t throwing us around for meaningless, satirical pleasure. No, God knows that molding us in this way is necessary to the completion of our refinement in Him!

I know some that are reading this may believe that God has forgotten about them because the cares of life are weighing you down. Please understand that the God of our Hope can never forget those whom He loves! Remember that we are clay and clay is not a masterpiece until it is shaped and crafted in the Father’s Hands! Yes, the Potter can eyeball a fist full of dirt and water and see the end but what about the onlookers? What about the persons who see the process of the clay being put under fire and thrown to only have to repeat the steps all over again? Do not let the blindness of others make you forfeit the process God is desiring for you to finish in your life.

Being a Christian is not about appearance, but a life laid down for Christ. We give Him total and free rein to mold, shape, and throw us into wherever He leads because God’s ways are perfect! How do we know this? How can we trust this? Because our Word tells us His character and His mind towards those who belong to Him. God’s Word isn’t some neatly decorated bestseller; it’s the permanent, powerful, and most potent piece of literature we will ever find! His Word brings clarity to these moments of doubt and fragility when we find ourselves in the thickness of our pain and malaise. So, trust that as God renews us in His word that He also refines us in our pain! Don’t forfeit the process – choose the kneading! As He kneads, you continue to kneel and watch His glory manifest like never before in your life!

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the kneading process. We repent for trying to retreat into something we deemed as a better way of life now understanding there is no safer place than in Your Hands and in Your Will. Help us to endure all the ailments and uncertainties that life may bring all for Your glory in Jesus Name Amen.
