Normally, the beginning of the month brings expectancy, hopefulness, a fresh space to start again, and possibly a smidgen of anxiety. There’s this unspoken pressure of doing better than we did in the last month which may look like being more prompt for events, better eating habits, and spending more time with God. We understand that this is a new opportunity to start afresh. However, we are also totally afraid of the possibility of failing again. Coupled with that is this self-depriving replay of how terrible last month was for us. So, we bring that somber attitude into the next month in fear of dealing with yet another horrible circumstance. Ladies and gentlemen this is me.
For quite some time, I have struggled to truly embrace the gift of not only a new month but a new day. Fear would knock at my door and I would quivery let him in knowing that he was a terrible and wicked house guest. This evil spirit would make a mess of my mind and of course my actions followed suit. So that almost every problem I was faced with was answered with the state of my feelings and not the truth of God’s Word. Sure, I know that the Bible told me to look towards the hills where my help is located. Even knowing this, I allowed the enemy to keep me looking down on his below ground level. He wants me to look at my problems, my circumstances, my inconveniences that through Christ, I have already overcame. This means that I have already overcame anything that tries to overwhelm or overtake me because of what Jesus did on the Cross for me and He did the same for you as well.
With this new mindset, I can now enter not just the month but every day given to me by God in hope and certainty that the Lord’s Plan will be done in my life. No matter what hiccups I face – I win. I don’t have to wait until the end of it to live like a winner because I’m always a winner. This gives me the courage to conquer the spirit of fear because I have victory in Jesus. A victory I’m constantly reminded by from my Heavenly Father encouraging me and my wonderful husband that God gave me.

This encouragement isn’t just reserved for me but given to all who have believed and yielded their lives to Jesus! Let God give you a new heart and mindset as you charter through this month. It is my prayer that you have the courage to conquer every opposition with the Word of God and by yielding to His Spirit. Let Holy Spirit guide you no matter how uncomfortable it may feel at first. Our feelings are not to be trusted to lead us as His Word states to not lean on our own understanding but in all that we do to acknowledge Him and He Will gladly direct us. That scripture wasn’t just for cute purpose quotes on our social media pages, but applicable to every aspect of our life.
So, let this be an encouragement that God is always with you. It’s not about being better than we were last month because that still puts the focus on us. Let’s have the mindset of Christ – to be more like Jesus each and every day. Then, we shall see true progress and His completed Work being done in our lives.
Heavenly Father, we lay down our ideas, our will, and our strength to Yours! We take on Your peace, strength, and wisdom on today. Forgive us of all the times we thought we could live our days without your help and continually fell short. We thank You for Your Mercy and Grace to begin again – in Jesus Name, Amen!
