How Do You Trust God in Hardship?

Isaiah 46:9b “… For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me,”

As much as we try to run from it, we are unable to escape the problems that we face in life. I’ve heard of some of the healthiest people suddenly being stricken with disease. As well as those who were the top employees at their job being abruptly laid off by the same company that sang their praises. When these things happen, it can be hard to initially see the Hand of God in the trials that we face. In this post, I will share the importance and purpose of trusting God.

It’s very funny how God displays His Marvelous Works. Oftentimes, we look to see the burning bush when He is actually showing up in our day-to-day lives. Consider the way God designed the family structure. The way children have this natural trust that their parents will take care of them and will always be there for them models the way we as children of God should trust our Heavenly Father. This is also why the family structure is heavily attacked. Our enemy wants us to have a distorted view of family so that we can not only grow up in ignorance of Jesus but to also have a tainted view of Him.

It can be hard to tell someone who was raped to trust God because they’re wondering where was God when I was sexually abused? How do you tell the person who never knew a dependable father that God is a good and trustworthy Father to His Children? Certainly, we show empathy for what they have experienced, but we compassionately explain that God is not like man. That yes, those things happened to you, but He is not the person who abused you or the absent parent that abandoned you.

Oftentimes, we may wonder why such a great God would allow certain things to happen to us. We must understand that these unfortunate and traumatic experiences are due to the sin of man and not the faithfulness of God or lack thereof. These experiences should push us to know God more because there is no way to live a healthy, functioning life without Him even without experiencing trauma. So, as the older generation would say, on our best days we need Him and on our worst days we can’t make it without Him. What does this mean and how does this apply to me trusting God? Well, we trust God because like the focal scripture says, He has no equals. There is nobody like God. As great as our parents may have been or as bad as they may have been has nothing to do with the supremacy and magnitude of God. He is not to be compared to man because He created man. Since He created us, we can trust that He knows more about us than we know about ourselves.

This post is an invitation to trust God again. Remember the times that He has came through for you, comforted you, and kept you. Meditate on the scriptures about Him delivering His people out of bondage, even the bondage they willingly walked into because of corrupt desires. If that’s you, repent and know that God is ready to rescue again. His Mercy is greater than your sin. For those who do not know God I encourage you to get to know Him for yourself. I can promise you that you will find the scripture to be true that there is nobody like our God.

Heavenly Father, help us to see You as good even when life may not be so good to us. We want to see you as greater than the problems we face. Thank You for Your Word that continually proves that there is nobody like You and for that reason alone we can put our trust in You! We love you and we thank You for being a dependable Father for us in Jesus Name, Amen!

  2. Amen, God is not like man. It’s people who sin against one another. It’s never God doing the wrong.

My favorite part—“On my best days, I need Him. On my worst days, I can’t make it without Him.”
