Blurred Faith

Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.

Lord, cause me to cheerfully follow You in cloudy moments of life.

Greetings Rose Buddy!

It’s another Monday and I am truly grateful for seeing yet another week in such an unpredictable year. So, God we thank, You! Today I’ll be discussing something I’m sure we are all too familiar with and that’s “Blurred Faith.” You probably haven’t attached that name to it before, but the experience has definitely happened. You know those frail moments of not leaning to our own understanding. When God is telling us to hold His Hand down this unclear path that seems never ending. Funny thing, as God gave me this topic last Wednesday, He wanted me to use the scenario of driving in fog. What made it interesting is that I had to drive in severe fog this weekend. This isn’t the first time that I’ve experienced the very thing God is using me to say or do. No matter how many times it happens, it never gets old. With that being said, let’s dive into this topic.

Now if you ever drove in fog, you know how tricky it can be. We need the proper settings to function in our vehicles to help combat the fog. Without proper functioning of those features it can be harmful as well as a hindrance to where we are trying to go. We know a few things about fog. Fog clouds vision. No matter how many times we have driven to a particular place, if fog is added to the route it creates delay. Some may have to pull over to rest their eyes for a bit. Others may abruptly stop once they see fog approaching. Relating this to our lives, sometimes we too have moments in life that makes us want to “pull over” and rest. We were doing good trucking alongside God on this journey called life then here comes “fog.” Fog can be looked at as disease, unemployment, a family feud, financial woes, you name it. At any rate, some of us tend to find some way to cope with the fog by getting some type of rest before continuing the “drive.” Then, there are those who abruptly stop as soon as they see fog. This is terrible for two reasons. For one it can create a massive wreck because the one that stops isn’t paying attention to the others behind them. Not paying attention to other “drivers” can lead to a huge car pileup on the road all because one person initially stopped. Secondly, it can obviously be detrimental. We see it all of the time. Normally, drivers follow other drivers. So, if someone stops the other has no choice because monkey see, monkey do. Especially, if they were driving close together, it leaves little room for a safer decision. Why does this matter? Well, as Christians we too have people closely following us. We don’t have to be ordained church officials to have people look up to us. There have been countless times on my old social media, people have inboxed me saying how much they needed something I posted or how looking at my walk with Christ strengthen theirs. To my surprise, the people who inboxed me hardly ever liked a post or commented but it still reached them. Our influence as believers reaches further than we think. So, if that is true for the good then it is also true for the bad. If I were to abruptly stop living for Christ because of hard times in life, it can cause a chain of people connected to me to question their faith as well. Questioning faith in God, can lead to putting our faith in something else and we know faith in anything else but God leads to death & destruction.

We have to be reminded while in fog, God never changes. Yes, things will come to make our journey a bit blurry, but God’s Word is apart of the “settings” we need to drive safely in the fog of life. His Word starts to make the once cloudy path much clearer and act as our roadmap, as my grandmother would say, to our true destination, Heaven. Prayer is also an essential feature to foggy nights of life. When we pray in times of panic it helps us make wiser decisions. This is how we lean not to our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). That scripture isn’t about just merely changing our minds but our hearts as well. Applying God’s Word comes after repentance, humility, and surrender. We trust and obey God because we have spent enough time with Him. Although, it can seem tempting to trust ourselves in the uncertainties of life, we trust the outcome of His Promises more than a quick fix. God teaching us to profit shows His method of teaching is to spring good in our lives and not evil. He doesn’t take us through blurred paths to cause harm, but to show His Character! To remind us He meant what He said when He promised to never leave us! God reminds us in times of fog that all things work for the good, to them that love God and are the called according to His Purpose. He didn’t call us to play tricks on us. He called us to grow deeper in Him. As we grow deeper, we find out what He is truly made of in the dark fog of life!

Then, we have the last part of the verse that states, “He leads us the way we should go.” Notice how it didn’t say a way we can go or a way to go. He was deliberate when He framed it the way we should go. Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. I’m not making this up. It’s found in John 14:6. We trust God in our fog because we believe His Way is the best way! It’s The Only Way to true Liberty, Life, and Love. Sure there are plenty of routes to take, but Jesus is the only Way that leads to Heaven. Especially in this holiday season, where we tend to leave Christ out of the reason why we celebrate. Okay, maybe you don’t use “x-mas” but your heart is more fixated on receiving gifts than acknowledging the grandest gift of them all. But hey, that’s an entirely different post. Either way, we have to remain confident in God being our best option when things seem unclear. I know it’s hard to hold on to a Word that was given when trials arise. Remember this, trials weren’t meant to cloud our judgment about God, but to propel our faith in Him. We know that faith has nothing to do with what we can see. Yet, we tend to grasp more to what we see than what God said. I encourage you as I encourage myself to remember God’s intentions are to always teach us of good things even in the thick of life. We are wrapping up 2020 and let’s not forfeit our faith because this year seemed a bit blurry. I strongly believe 2020 did bring focus on what matters. If you missed that then you still have time to gain that focus! Ask God to reveal where you have placed your trust this year. Repent after you see what He shows you. Turn back to Him by studying His Word, prayer, and being diligent on remembering the Truths You have heard and read. Faith is not about what we see, but what we believe! Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, thank You for continually leading me and giving me great benefits while trusting You. Help me in times where I feel more inclined to trust what I can see over what You have told me. I’m in a space that is unfamiliar and scary. Doubt is creeping in and causing me to lose trust in You. Lord, help me this day, this moment to stand on Your Word. I come against every lie, scare tactic, and spirit of harassment that is trying to penetrate my mind, my family, my finances, and my faith by The Blood of Jesus. Lord, You are my victory. Your resurrection is proof You can do all things. So resurrect my faith on this day. Grow my understanding as I put my trust back in You. This is sealed in Jesus Name, Amen!

Okay, be on the lookout for Wednesday’s YouTube video! I’ll be speaking on holiday depression. Until next time, PEACE!
