Psalm 51:16-17 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, You, God, will not despise.
Greetings Rose Buddy!
We are in the month of November and what a year it has been. With everything happening worldwide, I urge you not to miss the moments God is desiring to quicken, grow, and cleanse. This has been a time to take inventory of what clenches our heart’s. Did we solely depend on our jobs to provide for us and our families? Do we stop worshipping God because we are unable to physically go to corporate worship? Does black lives matter mean forfeiting Godly principles? Are we only using more of our time to binge watch tv while God is still on the back burner? Do we wish for this to be over with no understanding of why this is happening? Yes, I know these are some hard questions. Pretty sure I will have some kickback over the black lives matter examination. All and all my stance remains. This pandemic has shown a light to who was using Christianity as an ornament and who really was “bout that life.” There comes a time when the mere surface aspects of Christianity will not hold weight and that time is now. In the above scripture, David speaks of how much God could care less about sacrifices when the heart who is giving the sacrifice is not attached to it. This is what I mean by ornaments. Ornaments are meant for outward appeal with no inward zeal.
I strongly feel God is calling us back to Him. He is casting a light on what we have hid in our hearts that can be stumbling blocks down the road. The things we may take lightly because we love to categorize sin. He is saying, “yes, give me that too!” I want it all. Ornaments are used to decorate, embellish, and cover. This is an opportune time to see where we have decorated ourselves to seem like all we want is God when inwardly He is the last thing on our priority list. The world does not need artificial fruit. People are displaying more and more each day how much they unknowingly need Jesus. Imagine having the Answer to a literal dying problem and not giving it away. Even more disheartening, to have someone think you have the answer only to come up short when asked for help to save their lives. In this pandemic, I can attest how easily distracted I was with current events, binge watching tv, and personal woes.

This is not to say that all of those things don’t have a rightful place. Yes! The Christian should know what’s happening in the world, be attentive to personal matters, and watching television isn’t sinful. It is when there isn’t a healthy balance of doing these things and God’s work gets placed on the back burner. It is when we get so caught up in our personal life that we are blind to others needs. Before you give a rebuttal, understand I have lived through trials where I was still a help to those around me. God has divinely used me to help others while I needed help myself. What I have found is God honors my sacrifice. He honors the fact that I can tap into what is bigger than me for the greater good of His kingdom. While doing so, my needs inadvertently get met. This isn’t just concerning finances , but also spiritual needs. God will not leave us in lack! Especially when we are sacrificially doing His Work. The world teaches to look out for número uno because nobody else will. Wrong! Christians DO have support. We have Heavenly and earthly support through our community. If your support system does not reflect that then evaluate your circle. What we shouldn’t do is adopt worldly principles and adapt to their lifestyle. We are to live a selfless life. There is a way to take care of yourself and be of service to others, but that’s a whole other post. Because this self care agenda is very tricky for the believer.
It’s time out for the decorated disciples. The Bible speaks on having a form of godliness, but denying His Power. He wants us to strategize, reconstruct, and implement divine systems here on earth. That’s why the Black Lives Matter movement has to hit different for those in Christ. Simply because we are different. This is why we don’t have time to binge watch television shows every day because there is a war at hand. Are you starting to understand my introduction? The point is we don’t have time to play Christian. Take the ornaments off. Discard the cute, fuzzy facade and lets get in the trenches with The Holy Trinity. If nothing else, this year should’ve shown how much we need to be endowed with The Holy Spirit and to multiply converts throughout the earth. The time is now. I can assure you that God isn’t coming back for a decorated church. He’s coming back for a dedicated Bride! What will you decide?
Heavenly Father, thank You for the call to action. Thank You for waking up those things that we have allowed to be dormant. We ask for forgiveness any time we put Your Will behind our own. We give over every decorative ornament that we have used to play the role of Your church. We want to BE the church everywhere we go. We take on Your Will and we choose to die to ourselves daily. Have Your Divine Way in our lives in Jesus Name, Amen!
