Driven or Dramatic?

Proverbs 16:9 A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.

So it is approaching the end of March and how is everyone doing with their goals? I know towards the beginning of the year, we were pumped and ready to go to conquer our goals. Many of us have dreams and creative ideas that unfortunately never hit paper let alone an investment team. With all of the physical vision boards and Pinterest boards, what is keeping our dreams at bay? The world is full of entrepreneurs. What is keeping the people of God from flourishing? Is it demonic forces plaguing our minds with fear of failure? Could it be the wicked rulers in high places keeping investors from working with us? Or could the problem be in us? After doing much soul searching, I come to find that much of MY problem is not so demonic but ironic. It’s me and the power of my decision. The decision to not be driven by emotions, but to be driven by determination. I can dramatically be enthused one day and give up the next. Why? Because I am emotionally being led which gets old pretty quickly.

See, determination is what gets things done. Being driven with determination is what helps keep me focused on Purpose and not people. Emotionally driven is the exact opposite. I can be easily distracted by people and allow that to determine my momentum knowing that the crowd changes every day! We see in scripture that Jesus was determined to stay in Purpose and did not let the crowd sway Him in any of his decision-making. One day people loved Him and later on that day He was despised. The Gospel shows that we can’t let the applause of people intoxicate us nor their rotten tomatoes deter us. Instead, we are charged to stand on God’s Word. If God has already blessed you to proceed with the business then what is stopping you? Write the business plan, do your research, launch the site, write the book, type the proposal, just START! I am a witness of what God can do with a mustard seed, but I don’t want to keep producing mustard seeds when there is nothing too hard for God. Why not a pumpkin seed or an apple seed? Haha! The more He does for me should increase my Faith in Him especially when He has equipped me to do so.

What a great Father we have that WANTS to do life with us and has our lives already mapped out. All we have to do is trust His Yes even when our flesh is screaming no. I have a few tips on how to combat fear with faith on Tag You’re It! Be sure to check it out and get to work! Let’s not waste another year simply wishing and let’s start actively working towards our Purpose in Christ. If He said it then that settles it! Leggo! πŸ™‚

  2. This was right on target and right on time! Getting started is so exciting because when God gives us the idea He also gives us a glimpse of the end success. We are so focused on the result that we get frustrated in the process because being in the middle of a process can be a mess (like painting a picture, cooking a meal, building a house, etc.). It is important that we understanding giving up on the process is giving up on that beautiful result the drove us to start in the beginning. It’s not about satisfying people it’s about being obedient to God! HE will exalt you! He will deem your efforts a success!
