False Adoption

When customs become burdens.

I want to pose the question, what are we adopting?  It has come to my attention that for one reason or another, we have adopted things that were not attached to the finalization of our salvation.  Once being adopted into such a great Priesthood that is in Christ, it is quite disturbing the things we have allowed to consume us.  When researching the process of natural adoption, it takes several months before the adoption is solidified.  On the contrary, in the adoption with Jesus Christ, we are immediately joint heirs to the Kingdom of God.  Actually realizing the truth of our adoption is what seemingly takes quite a bit of time to understand. It’s like we know we are adopted in theory, but takes time for that to hit our heart. We still have people telling us who we used to be, old memories exalting itself in our minds, and of course our accuser, satan, yelling lies everytime we mess up. With all of that being said, we have to evaluate customs, patterns, and choices that have become our normal as we enter 2019.

It is imperative that we look at the source of why we form these habits. Anyone can say they want to change without understanding WHY. When we neglect the why, we are unable to DO. The Bible(Eph. 4:22-24) teaches us to put off the old man and to put on His Righteousness, which is a decision. Waking up has to begin with this as a repeated decision. Putting off our old self is not a wham bam thank ya, ma’am. Surely, it takes time to renew our minds. That I can agree and relate to, but we have to decide that we can’t think the same way. Looking on social media, I jovially here people say they are not catching feelings anymore due to some people that hurt them in the past. Being hurt is inevitable, but I want to encourage you not to live in that hurt by potentially blocking genuine people from getting close to you. Everyone is not out to get you and give yourself the opportunity to fully heal from who or what hurt you.

Constructing how you interact with someone due to what other people did to you will not help you. It’s 2019 and it would be a terrible shame to let the year go by and still be mentally and emotionally stuck in another year that has already passed. Let it go! Let those past hurts go. Moving on is not shutting others out, but learning to live in Joy, Peace, and the Freedom that Jesus chose for you.

We are adopted into royalty and we have to let go of this peasant mindset. God made relationships so surely He can lead me to the righteous relationship(in His Timing). The earth is The Lord’s and the fulness thereof so surely all of my needs are met, PERIDOT. Jesus Blood covers my sin so I don’t have to live in shame or defeat every time I mess up. His Blood is the cleaner upper. His Blood etches away my blemishes and He calls me friend. These are the things we must have settled in our heart. No longer adopting the mindset of the world, but the mindset of Christ(Phil. 2:5). Let’s start the new year off righteous! We are making solutions and not just resolutions. Until next time, PEACE!

  2. This touched every part of me. I really really needed this. Satan’s lies every time we mess up, giving up on relationships because of the way I’m starting to feel towards them, and adopting more of Him into our hearts and not worldly ways. Amen girl, Amen!
