Ya Snooze, Ya Lose!

Matt. 25:14-30

Hi guys!  This is a very lengthy scripture and I encourage you to take the time to study it in your personal time with God.  Even if you have read it before, ask God for fresh revelation because I truly believe He will give it to you.  Now let’s hop to it, shall we?

For those of you who may not recognize the title, I actually posted this on Tumblr last December.  It has been almost a year and God wants me to come back to this very subject.  Today’s subject is one of my biggest fears because I honestly do not want to live an unfulfilled life.  What do I define as an unfulfilled life?  My personal definition is to live without unlocking each gift God has instilled in me.  One might ask how can you do that?  The answer is rather simple.  Oftentimes, we misplace our identity by imitating others to the point of us forfeiting our own destiny for someone else’s.  In a world of people trying to be the next Beyonce or LeBron James, we need to realize that who God made us is just as important as who God made the next person.  Also, just because someone’s life may appear to be ridiculously amazing does not mean it’s the life God intended for that person.  So, as great as it is to look up to people we have to make sure the people we are looking up to point us to God and not god(s).  Now, that is a whole other post.  So let’s get back to the topic at hand.

I want to take a different approach in my attempt to break this parable down.  The first approach is to realize two out of the three servants used all that God gave them and multiplied it.  Be that as it may, the third servant produced absolutely nothing by hiding his talent in the ground in hopes of preserving it and received…well read to find out(wink, wink).  Now, we can easily agree that the third servant was foolish and the first two were wise which is true.  However, we need to evaluate if we are operating in the third servant’s mindset. We may have two “talents” and choose to hide one.  Or, we could have four talents and hide three.  Some of us pridefully say, “Surely not me God.  I am not worthy to have these gifts You’ve given me.”  Others may hide them due to fear of man over their fear of God.  We want to dumb ourselves down so that others can receive us better.  Ouch!  That one hurt me because oftentimes, I hide behind what I know so others won’t be intimidated when it is not about me.  God giving me gifts was NEVER about me.  Keeping this mindset enables me to move freely in the gift because I recognize it is just that, a GIFT.  So, I honor Him by treating His gift(s) with reverence and allowing Him to minister through them with His Love.  God wants us to live an abundant life through His Son, Jesus, and that entails fulfilling ALL that He has deposited within us. Don’t let fear or excuses keep you from living a fulfilled life.  The third servant thought his hiding was preserving the talent, but it could have been fear that drove out that horrible excuse not to use and produce more talents for the growth of the kingdom.  That’s what it is all about.  Our gifts are not to showcase how deep or knowledgeable we are, but to display the very works of God.  People can see God using us and say surely God has given me something as well.  You may not be able to sing, but perhaps He has gifted you for divine wisdom or divine faith.  Spend time with Him and find out.

Honestly, it’s just that simple. We get so caught up in what we don’t have which is (fear) that we sit on the very gift(s) God desires for us to bless others with and bring honor to His Kingdom.  Me for example, I was known as “the dancer” when I first started my relationship with Jesus.  As I grew in my relationship and used that gift, I prayed that whatever other gifts  God wants me to use, let me use it!  That same night God woke me up out of my sleep and told me to write.  Well, as you can see the rest is history.  It STILL takes me getting out of my own way to let God use me because I wonder what will people think?  I don’t have the financial resources as others or will people really be blessed by what I write?  It’s not about me!  It’s not about me, you, or the loud critics in your head telling you why you should not produce.  It’s ALL about Jesus. Churchy? Too spiritual? Sorry, it’s the truth!

At the end of the day, nothing else matters outside of what we do or didn’t do for Christ. Don’t hide your gifts.  We truly can do ALL things through Christ Who gives us His Strength(Phil. 4:13).  Pray that God can use every bit of you while you are here.  Cancel out every lie that is in your mind telling you to keep your gifts hidden.  Stop comparing your starting point to others and just be obedient to God.  He will produce more from an active seed than from one who refuses to be watered.  We all know what happens to plants that refuse to grow, right?  They don’t LIVE!  Again, read the reference scripture above.  Ya snooze, ya lose!  Let Him use ya!

Lord shine Your Light so I can see.

I want to use every gift in me!

Today is the day I change my mind.

Not my name Lord, but for Yours to be GLORIFIED.

Use me.
