Light It Up!
Psalm 18:28 For You will light my candle: the Lord my God will Enlighten my darkness. — David (Bible)

When God gave me this title, I had absolutely NO idea where He was trying to go with this. It’s quite funny, that after researching the light in a sunset, I found that the sunlight travels more during a sunrise and sunset than any other time of day. Basically, the sunlight is more prominent during those darker periods than in actual daylight. Makes sense, because why would the light need to travel more in the brightness of day? Suddenly, it hit me! Oftentimes, we tend to feel more of God in our “sunset” or “sunrise” moments. You know the darker periods of life that we inevitably have to go through? God’s Light is more visible when we are suffering, in pain, frustrated, and lost because at that moment His Light is The only thing that points to Hope. In frail thinking, we place hope in our money to get us out of trouble, our jobs to provide for our lavish tastes and livelihood, and people to always be there. The danger is when all of those things shows itself to be as temporary as they were created to be and His Light is able to make a grand appearance! His Light cuts through those grim skies and leads us out of darkness. Our very salvation came from Jesus Light in our sunset. Think about it. If it had not been for The Light of Jesus to this dark world, we all would be hopelessly lost. For that reason, we cry out ABBA Father just as Jesus did on The Cross (arguably) at SUNSET! Isn’t it startling how Jesus supposedly died around sunset? How amazing it is that The Light was on display during a seemingly dark era for the entire earth?! All for God’s Glory to be manifested on that Sunday morning which can arguably be proven at sunrise.
That same example goes for us, Christians. We are here to let God’s Light shine through us in this dark world. Did you catch the end part? It is now on us to shine to the WORLD. Remember when I was writing about how the light’s exposure is not as dominant in the daytime? It is not enough to have this awesome religion, I mean *coughs*, relationship with Christ and keep it tucked away for just us and other believers. His Light shines greater in darkness! His Strength works perfectly in weakness! The very thing you think God can’t use you for will be His very instrument of salvation through YOU! So, I urge you as well as myself to let His Light shine in the “sunset.” Let it shine in your brokenness, your disappointments, and your misfortune. It is in those gloomy moments where His Light will surely triumph!
