Psalm 104:24 AMP “O Lord, how many and varied are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your riches and Your creatures.”
Hi guys and happy December! The month of December can bring a mixture of emotions for many. Some may be anxious about holiday spending. With all of the commercials and ads on streaming apps, it can cause added pressure to spend money that you don’t have or could save for a rainy day. This month can also be grievous for those who have experienced a great loss. It could be a loss in finances, a relationship, a loved one, a sense of self in the sense of grieving who you once were. All of these things can cause you to fear what may be in store for this month. Others, like myself, may endure this month grateful. Grateful that God has allowed you and carried you into the last month of this year. A year filled with May highs and lows – so low you knew it was God that brought you out!
This brings me to my focal verse. In the world of psychology there’s something called, “framework.” What I decided to do was rework that exercise into “faith-work.” We are called to exercise our faith as Christians and what that loos like is remembering our faith is rooted in God’s Word! So, entering this new month I want to be intentional about focusing our gaze on the marvelous works of God Hands throughout this year as it pertains to our life. Our circumstances are yelling at us to make it the center of our attention, but we have a choice. We always have a choice! Even as I am writing this, I am utilizing my choice to exalt God when I could be wallowing in the darkness of the sickness attacking my body. However, I am choosing to keep my gaze on Christ and Christ alone.
This is how we put our faith to work! As we focus on God, our posture begins to shift. That angst we were feeling about the holidays starts to be buried under the peace of God. That grief we experienced that wanted to turn into depression began to crumble under the presence of God comforting our spirit! This sickness that has tried to wreak havoc on my body for five prolonged days starts to take a backseat to the work of the Lord within me! Exercising our faith and remembering what God has done and is doing for us enables us to bless God at all times! No matter the season that we are in, we trust that God is still God over that season! Since this is true, we continue to bless Him with our words, our hands, our faith, and our works for the kingdom of God.
I pray that you’re able to recognize the opportunity you have to worship God in the thick of your circumstance. In the most burdensome of times is when we truly see the heart and faithfulness of God at work in our lives. He’s faithful to us because He doesn’t know how to be unfaithful! He’s not choosing to be faithful like we are to our spouses. This is His very nature – a divine devotion to His bridegroom. So, lay all of your woes and worries at the altar of heart on this first day of December. Cry out to the God Who Sees you and never forgets His children! He is waiting to lift you of your weight in exchange for His peace and warm consolation.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for being a faithful God towards us. Your marvelous works continues to show us the mightiness of Your hands and how You do all things well. Help us to remember that his as we enter into this new month that You have blessed us to see. May Your good and perfect will be done in our lives on today and beyond in Jesus Name, amen!
