The life of a Christian is stabilized by prayer. At the rate of wickedness this world is grossly growing into, we can’t forsake this great weapon that we possess. Yes, prayer is a privilege but it is also our weapon to fight against the tactics and schemes of our very present enemy. Bonds can be loosed and has been loosed because of a deliberate decision to fight on our knees! As easy as it may appear to fight in our own strength, we must understand that what happens in the natural was manifested in the spiritual. This understanding requires different tools and divine tactics that only yield from a life of prayer.
I say a life of prayer because it’s not just a Sunday ritual that we check off of our “godly to-do list.” It must be embedded in our hearts that this is the water to our bread. God’s Word being the bread and prayer to Him being our water. We really can’t survive without either one as a believer! For those who are struggling in prayer, let me encourage you by saying God isn’t looking for some deep and powerful voice from you. God is powerful enough – He doesn’t need your finite power added to your request. All that He asks is for a humble heart and for you to partner with His Spirit in intercession.
If that doesn’t help you, then understand God’s Word is full of powerful and incredible prayers! Use His Word to guide your lips when you feel stuck on what to pray. Even tell God, “I don’t know what to pray; please lead me!” As a matter of fact, Jesus knew that we wouldn’t know what to pray which is why He was so gracious enough to have given us a model prayer. Following that format is our key to praying effectively and fervently to God!
Remember that God desires to hear from you no matter how far you have gone astray. Your forgiveness is just a prayer away. Repentance is just a prayer away. A new heart and a right spirit is just a prayer away. I’m speaking from experience. God honors those who submit themselves to a lifestyle of prayer. So, honor God and yield to His voice. Let today be the day that you commit to seeking His Face in prayer.
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us the importance of prayer! Help us when we don’t know the right words to say and comfort us when we are too ashamed to approach Your heavenly throne for mercy. We love You, Lord and we want to show You that by daily communing with You through prayer and intercession in Jesus Name, amen!
