Insomnia used to be a fair part of my story
Claiming vampire life was a badge of glory
Not realizing that lack of sleep
Revealed lack of Peace
I couldn’t get free
Until I proclaimed, “Oh Lord how I need Thee!”
And even in present times,
I still must shout
To the God of Ages
Who continues to help me out
When fear or anxiety
Tries to keep me confined
To a holding cell of widened eyes
So now I taunt what tried to sift me
No longer fear the darkness, darkness fears me!
Hi Rosebuddy! We have reached day three of our writing collab! Please do not feel shy and comment how these last couple of posts have been for you. With restless nights, I wanted to tell a story of how I overcame something I did not realize I was bound to at first. Society teaches us that less sleep means we are hard workers or somehow apart of some elite crowd that can function without the recommended hours of sleep per night. The thing is our bodies were created for rest. We were designed by The God of Peace so how much more should we benefit from this by experiencing Peace in our day-to-day life. Peace should not be something hoarded for a vacation on the beach or a massage at the spa. We have the freedom to live in this Peace no matter what is happening around us.
I pray whoever is reading can experience this Peace beyond the holiday season. That your nights and days may be abundantly filled with the Joy of Jesus Christ.
If you are having trouble getting rest at night, I would like to share 5 things that could help put you at ease.
- Meditate on God’s Word. Psalms is a great book to start with for inviting God in your heart for rest.
- Write down what is keeping you up. Then write down what you can do and whatever you are unable to do, give to God
- Share your concerns with your people. People you feel safe around and can listen to your worries and pray with and for you.
- YouTube has a great worship channel called DappyTKeys. His instrument playing will soothe your soul.
- Remember you are not created to worry. Worrying will never solve your problems. Keeping this in mind will help you release things over to God.
