2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brother, stand fast and hold the traditions you were taught, whether by word or our letters.
Hey hey Rose buddies! It has definitely been quite the year hasn’t it? Only three months in and we are rocking and rolling. I would like to offer a bit of comfort to you and also to myself as well. With everything that’s going on in the world, know my prayers are with you. Most importantly, Jesus is interceding as well. One thing I can just imagine Him petitioning us to do and that is to stand. Some of you may think what are you talking about? The world is in a frightful state. What kind of response will my stance bring?
In the reference scripture, the writer encourages the church to not only remember what they were taught, but to cling to it. Technically he said stand first. Actually, let’s talk about the reason why he may have said stand first. Honestly, it’s very hard to hold tight to something you don’t believe or trust. Think about it. Imagine someone tells you to stand on a chair. You do so in obedience only to find out it’s not wobbly or faulty. You then can affirm that the chair is durable, solid, and provides stability. The same goes for The Word of God and everything that’s been taught to us by HIS chosen pastors and teachers. We won’t know how solid His Word is if we don’t read or apply it to our lives.
This is why I encourage you to stand. Stand with a purpose. To stand is to activate your faith and allow God to do the rest. Even now, practice a natural power stand with your head up, shoulders back, and hands on your hip. Even in that mere demonstration, that particular stance gives a sense of power. So, I challenge, how much more practicing this in the Spirit? Stand on His Word and lean on the Power of His Might. Yes, be aware and use precaution in light of this virus. I just urge you not to forget the traditions you were taught because it is what keeps you stable in shaky times as these and to come. God said don’t count these things strange! So, keep standing! Our stance not only puts fear in the enemy but also brings light to this very dark world. S.T.A.N.D Setting the atmosphere noticeably different. #STAND
